Monsanto, the makers of PCB's, ROUND UP, DIOXIN & AGENT ORANGE, and who have shown they hate farmers who don't use their products, have just won a landmark case against an organic farmer which sets a precedent leaving no legal protections in place for organic farmers whose crops are contaminated with GM seeds. This puts many farmers at risk whose properties border other farms growing GM crops.

We took our first delivery of Dawson Valley free-range pork this week and lots of it was snapped up.
Folks there is nothing that can deliver authentic fresh quality organic and all-natural than going direct to farm.

Dawson Valley farm1Baconit was exciting to finally recieve our first batch of nitrate-free, preservative-free and organically farmed pig meat from Dawson Valley Free Range. (they are up near Rockhampton)

The demand for this type of quality product is high and sourcing it is has been a bigger than expected task, i.e. to get it authentically direct. Lucy came down and delivered it in her big freezer trailer this time. We love dealing direct with farmers because they are a special calibre of people, and learning the story of the farm and how they practice authentic organic methods is invigorating.

FYI, the herd breed is Heritage, a black variet of pig. They are more resilient to disease. Dawson Valley only rear 50 animals at a time and they roam in big paddocks and are true pastured pigs suppliment fed with natural grains. spare ribs

There are no anitbiotics, steroids, growth promotants, animal products or by-products, speed farming methods, or anything artificial applied in their methods. When the pigs are processed, they are cut and cryovac packed. No, nitrate, no preservatives, no additives are used in the product.

Fresh or Frozen?

Is the Bacon fresh or frozen? If frozen, is it possible to separate the rashers without having to thaw the whole batch?
